Problem
Overhauled trans as a bench job. replaced all clutches, seals, gaskets, epc and tcc solenoids, torque converter, pump busing and others. Cleaned all parts. Truck went on a trip of about 2000 miles pulling a massive trailer. Everything ok until on way home after cresting a hill the vehicle stopped pulling. Nuetral condition in all ranges. Fluid level and condition good. Code po730 in memory. Checked line pressure-nothing. Pulled pan and inspected. Lots of metal contamination. Pulled unit and tore down. Pump gears wiped out and broken. Converter hub wiped out. direct drum bushings spun. Checked cooler flow. wide open. Inline filter ok. Check all lube passages-ok. Engine crank endplay minimal. crank pilot unobstructed. I am pulling my hair out trying to find a cause for this failure. I am ready to rebuild but I just don't feel good about it. Has anyone had a similar problem or can shed a little light on this. I have O/D many of these without this type of failre.
