limp after shifting to 2nd

Problem
Can't remember the code but gives me a turbine speed sensor out ckt out of range.
It happens just before or during the 1-2 shift
Without any tps change (27%) the turbine speed goes from 1350 rpm to 350 rpm for 1 frame of the movie.
I can't duplicate this in park or neutral.
This being a tow truck with a PTO on it,
this sensor is almost impossible to get at let alone the wiring that goes to it.
Any input is appreciated.
